Our team has a private tent for race day so we encourage the athletes to come earlier than they would for a normal race.  ALL athletes need to be at the team tent NO LATER than ONE HOUR prior to their scheduled race (the EARLIER the better).

Coaches will take each team from the tent to the starting area 30 to 45 minutes prior to the start of their race.  ONLY competing athletes will be allowed in the starting/staging area. Similar to Regionals, athletes will be at the starting area without coaches or parents.

TEAM SCHEDULE

We have planned activities to encourage time for athletes and families to socialize and spend time together.  Outside of these limited events, how families spend their time is at your complete discretion, but we ask that you allow ample time for runners to rest and prepare for the race.  This trip provides a great opportunity for informal gatherings with teammates (e.g. movie nights, video games, craft projects, pool).  If your athlete does go swimming, we ask our families and athletes to play calmly and carefully prior to their race.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PARKING - All tickets for parking must be purchased online via the following link for $20/car.

FOOD / CONCESSIONS - TBA

MEMORABILIA - Hoodies, t-shirts, etc are customized by the athletes during the purchase process.  Due to this - memorabilia lines are typically LONG.  It is recommended to plan 1-2 hours if you plan to get memorabilia.   It is also recommended to purchase your items PRIOR to race day as popular items tend to sell out quickly.  Items can be purchased at the event headquarters at the meet venue.

Merchandise will be on sale at the Blue River Cross Country Course:

  • Thursday 12PM - 6:00PM

  • Friday 9AM-7PM

  • Saturday 7AM-4PM

Experience tells us that:

---Getting your memorabilia on THURSDAY is the best idea - most groups will be there around 3:30pm

---Memorabilia is not cheap.  By the time your athlete customizes their hoodie or shirt - you can easily be looking at $75 or more for that one item.....so be prepared for that.

TEAM TENT - Our team will have a team tent available for athletes getting ready to race and post-race.  We will let everyone know where our tent is located within the TENT CITY.  Due to the the limited size of the tent, we ask that friends and families limit the time in the tent to give our athletes and coaches plenty of space to provide a safe  environment.   OUR TEAM TENT IS #59.   We will have a team banner hanging on it to help you find it.

WHAT TO WEAR - Be sure to bring appropriate clothes - including all your team gear.  We would like to have all of the athletes in the black team hoodies at the race course on Friday and Saturday.  Click HERE to see the local weather in Shelbyville, IN.

OTHER ITEMS TO BRING - The following items could be useful:

  • Hand warmers (check the weather!)

  • Beach towel or small blanket to use in the team tent

  • Race day snacks and water bottle

  • plastic garbage bag to put dirty/wet clothes and shoes in after the race.

PACKING - Make sure you have your running gear in your carry on bag - the S's -
shorts, singlet, shoes (spikes), socks (and sports bra).  These cannot easily be
replaced at the last minute if luggage is lost or delayed.
